5 SEO Website Enhancements

In the world of SEO there are a lot of things that need to get done in-order to rank for your keyword and industry. Building a website takes a lot of work, and to adjust and make changes to that site once it is finished isn’t easy. With that in mind, I wanted to talk about 5 recommendations that are easier than most to implement and vital if you want to show up in a Google results page. This is also assuming that you have already researched and chosen your keywords.

1. Webpage Title Tags

This is one simple yet overlooked piece of any webpage. In the top of your page in the HTML code is the header section. In this section is where different Meta data is stored and read when someone lands on your page. The Title is what is displayed by your search browser (Internet Explorer, etc) as well as what Google lists in a search result as the webpage’s title. You have 65
characters that you can use. Within that set amount be sure to put your business name and they keyword.

2. Webpage Meta Description Tag

In the same vein as the Title, you will want to put the same time and attention to the Meta Description. As the name suggests you are describing the page that the user is going onto. What the page is about, about your company etc. You will want to have they keyword put into this as well. Each page will need to have a Title and Description put on them. Making sure the keyword is there is vital if you want to influence clicks from search engine users.

3. Webpage H1 Tag

At the beginning of your page, as like in a newspaper, you want to have a heading or something that grabs the reader’s attention to tell them what you are going to talk about. An H1 tag is going to be what Google has said is the best way to show that. So like I have said with 1 and 2 you want to have your keyword in here as well. Don’t add it just to add it, actually write a
heading that makes grammatical sense.

4. Website XML Sitemap

An xml sitemap is a list of webpage URLs on your website or domain. It tells search engines what pages your website has just in case they couldn’t or have not been able to find them all through the normal link by link website crawls they do. It makes their job of listing your site on their engine easier and quicker, which is what you want. Need a sitemap built in no time flat? Use this site here, and they will make one for you fairly quickly.

5. Unique Content on Every Webpage

Over the past year Google has been implementing a new update that has impacted a lot of websites on the internet. Codenamed: Panda, this update has hit a lot of websites that don’t have unique content on their site. What does Google consider unique? It’s information that you have written yourself.

Google had seen a trend in people copying and plagiarizing written content from other websites and using it as their own. Also a lot of the website content today seemed generic and not as high of quality as it once was. So they decided to penalize those that didn’t meet this new high quality googleblog.blogspot.com that they put in place.

So to avoid this penalty write content that is interesting, engaging, and relevant to your industry. Write it yourself and don’t grab it from somewhere else. It is still totally fine to quote people or to reference something else you have found online, just be sure that you provide a source.

So these are a few items that I would suggest any website owner to implement into their website to gain better rankings in search results and to provide a much better service to your clients/customers. Making these small simple steps can lead to much greater rewards in the end.
